The short answer is yes. This is not a popular answer, most people are very against pregnant people fasting. I pose this question: we’ve had so many women in the group talk about how they were infertile, but then after water fasting they were able to conceive. Why is it that fasting is okay to create an environment where conception is possible, but it’s not okay to continue throughout the pregnancy? The reality is that fasting is a normal part of our lives, while we’re sleeping we’re fasting. Now, while I won’t say that a woman should necessarily do a complete long-term water fast while pregnant, it’s completely safe to do intermittent fasting, juice fasting or even one meal per day. After speaking to many pregnant women and reading about their experiences, I find that oftentimes pregnant women don’t like to eat a lot. They feel bloated and uncomfortable. There’s even some women who claimed that they weren’t able to eat, because every time they ate, their body would throw it up. I’m in no way advocating long-term water fasting while pregnant, but the shorter durations, less than a day, juice fasting, one meal a day, or variations similar to that, are completely safe and healthy.
